Words of the Saints to Ponder While Journeying Toward Bethlehem
St. Peter Chrysologus (golden-worded) (380 – July, 31, 450)
Born: Italy
Doctor of the Church, Bishop, Doctor of Homilies
Feast Day: July 30th
Patron Saint of: Sick with Fevers and Against Mad Dogs
“Christ’s birth was not a necessity, but an expression of omnipotence, a sacrament of piety for the redemption of men. He who made man without generation from pure clay made man again and was born from a pure body. The hand that assumed clay to make our flesh deigned to assume a body for your salvation. That the Creator is in his creature and God is in the flesh brings dignity to man without dishonor to him who made him.”
Prayer:
Dear Lord Jesus, you came to cover the world in your righteousness. At the beginning of time, you breathed life into us. Now, you come as God-Man to save us from all our sins. Your love for me is amazing. Beloved Christmas Miracle, save me, I wait and long for your coming.
Music:
Savior of the Nations Come
Not of flesh and blood the Son,
offspring of the Holy One;
born of Mary ever blest,
God in flesh is manifest.
