Words of the Saints to Ponder While Journeying Toward Bethlehem
St. Bernard of Clairvaux (1090 – Aug. 20, 1153)
Born: France
Doctor of the Church, Confessor, Monk, Abbot, Song Writer, and Poet.
Feast Day: Aug. 20th
Patron Saint of: Beekeepers and Candlemakers.
“Awake, you who lie in the dust, awake, and give praise. Behold, the Lord cometh with salvation. He comes with salvation, He comes with unction, He comes with glory. Jesus cannot come without salvation, Christ cannot come without unction, nor the Son of God without glory. For He Himself is salvation, He is unction, He is glory, as it is written, “A wise son is the glory of his father.””
Prayer:
Dear Lord Jesus, You come as healing ointment. You come in glory. You bring salvation to the world. You are coming in glory with healing powers. Help me spread the Word. Beloved Christmas Miracle, save me, I wait and long for your coming.
Music:
O Come Divine Messiah!
O come, divine Messiah!
The world in silence waits the day
When hope shall sing its triumph,
And sadness flee away.
Dear Savior, haste! Come, come to earth.
Dispel the night and show your face,
And bid us hail the dawn of grace.
