Station of the Cross
13th Station ~ Jesus is Laid in the Tomb
Psalm 51 v 18 Do good in thy good pleasure unto Zion: build thou the walls of Jerusalem.
Jesus is laid in the tomb. A cold, dark borrowed tomb, no pillow for his head. I am always thankful and somewhat relieved when Holy Saturday finally arrives. I am ready for some good news, bells, flowers, colors, the Resurrection! But then, I remember, Mary, His mother still mourns, the disciples wonder and are afraid. Today, we know the rest of the story but I wonder how I would have reacted in Jesus’ time. Would I have felt little hope and great sorrow? Saturday would have been a day of great disbelief and grief.
But we do know the rest of the story. Jesus died for our sins, our debts are all paid in full, once and for all. Tomorrow, will be a new day and God’s mercies and grace are refreshed each morning! Alleluia!!
