Fourth Station

Jesus Meets His Mother ⁷ Cleanse me with hyssop, and I will be clean;     wash me, and I will be whiter than snow. ⁸ Let me hear joy and gladness;     let the bones you have crushed rejoice.

where Jesus has fallen on the way to Calvary. Through the eye of the lens, you see His mother, remembering Jesus as a little boy and has fallen she came running to pick him up and rocked him in her arms for a moment. This memory gives her courage to run to her son on the way to the Cross. He touches her face and says, “Mother, see I make all things new…” When Mary heard this she must have understood from her knowledge of what her parents taught from the prophets of old, that Jesus was telling her he was here to fulfill the prophecies.

Isaiah, 43v19… Behold, I will do a new thing; now shall it spring forth;

Or

Jeremiah, 31v22… for Jehovah hath created a new thing in the earth.

Psalm 51 v 7-8 talk about the “Hyssop” according to the Levitical Law this was used to clean oneself after touching a corpse or someone with leprosy. When David wrote this psalm he knew he was in need of the most extreme kind of cleansing. So with the Hyssop it was a sprinkling of blood, a “blood of sprinkling.”

Lord Jesus, Have pity on me a sinner. The agony you went through wasn’t enough but  to meet your mother on the way. With your blood, you have made me as white as snow. There are no words to thank you for the blood sprinkling that you did for me. You have paid the price once and for all.
