Jesus is Condemned to Die

Psalm 51 v1-2

¹Have mercy on me, O God, according to your unfailing love; according to your great tenderness     blot out my transgressions.

² Wash away all my guilt and cleanse me from my sin.

Today, the first station, Jesus is Condemned to Die and Psalm 51 David is crying out for mercy and tenderness. Jesus willing goes the cross for the sins of humankind. The word, humankind seems to soften the blow of Jesus going to the cross. However, let me change one word and see how it feels… Jesus willing goes to the cross for my sins. Wow, now, I am not feeling so good. Admitting Jesus died for my sins some how brings everything home. Me, Myself and I are responsible for my sins, my choices, my wrong doings. I too, need to cry out for God’s unfailing lovingkindness. And the good news is God is waiting for me to ask. God is always listening. The other day, I heard on the radio, “God does not yell.” I smiled to myself but it is true. God speaks in whispers. He speaks to our heart. So when I cry out to God for his lovingkindness, I need to go to my quiet place. I remember when all my kids were home finding that quiet place is not always easy. Young parents, students and the retired have their plates full but maybe today, your quiet place will be standing in front of your kitchen sink or rocking your youngest to sleep. It may be in the car picking kids up from school or standing in line at the post office. Where ever you find your quiet place cry out to God and ask for mercy.
