John 3:16  “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.

This son that God has sent to us has many names, one is Christ, Christ means, “God Anointed One.” In the Old Testament, when God anointed someone he was saying, “I have chosen you. I have a special task for you to do.” In sending Jesus to us, God gave him a special task, to show us how to love one another. Today, we are called, Christians, I understand that to mean we are chosen and have been given a special task to do. Pope Francis on his birthday lived out that task, in part, by giving out 400 sleeping bags to the homeless in the city.

Christ, teach me to show your love by action to those around me.
